Happiness Guest House
The owner runs Happiness Guest House himself, helped by a small team who live on the premises. Guests notice. Staff is the highest scoring category at 9.6 out of 10, and the reviews tend to name individual people.
The house is on Ramla Street in Gezirat Al Bairat, a quiet residential part of Luxor's West Bank, a few minutes from the river. That address explains the location score of 8.8, second lowest of the seven categories: the tombs are close, but Luxor Temple and Karnak need a ferry crossing. WiFi scores 8.3 and is the weakest category of all.
Behind the house there is a walled garden with the swimming pool, loungers, umbrellas and towels. Luxor afternoons pass 40 degrees in summer, so this is what guests write about first.
Rooms come in one type only: a 30 m2 Deluxe Double with air conditioning, one large double bed and a private bathroom with a bath. The building is new and the beds score 9.5.
The kitchen cooks. Breakfast is made fresh every morning, lunch and dinner are served too, and vegetarian or other diets are arranged in advance. There is a bar, a snack bar and a coffee corner, and guests who prefer to cook have a shared kitchen and a shared lounge.
Reception is staffed around the clock and handles the tour desk, currency exchange, an ATM, luggage storage and laundry. Airport transfers, car hire and bicycle rental are arranged on request, and massage and beauty treatments are available on site.
